Poland is central in the European continent and the largest country in eastern Europe. Poland was the first of the communist block to gain independence in 1989. 60% live in urban areas. The largest city is Warsaw with 1.7 million people. Folk music is alive in Poland; It is often played to accompany traditional dances such as the mazur, krakowiak, and kujawiak.

  • Polish is a Slavic language and is difficult for English speakers, but most students are able to express themselves by Christmas. English is also commonly used.
