 Norway is Europe’s great parkland: a dramatic mix of mountains, sea, forests and fjords. Norwegians live ‘close to the land’, whether living in large cities or small villages. They are robust devotees of the outdoors, and are enthusiastic supporters of outdoor activities including hiking, skiing, camping, as well as all forms of organized sports. The Norwegian standard of living is among the highest in the world, as is life expectancy. The culture places high value on the equality of women in society. Leisure time in Norway also ranks high among of European countries, with average work week of 32 hours. Norway offers an exchange student a chance to live in a thoroughly modern society in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
